Yee, I’m deaf again!

No names to protect the innocent, but just a few notes:

  • I know you really love Daffy Duck, but singing with his voice during a metal concert may not be the best thing to do
  • 1 point for lameness: wearing a tshirt of your own band for a concert
  • 2 point for lameness: wearing leather pants and going on stage bare chest while you should have rather followed a diet, because this is really not the best way to impress girls.
  • Nice guitars. I only hoped there would be some real interesting solos with those.
  • For the public: when the singer asks which song to play next, don’t just say “yeah”.

back from Angra

Friday, February 18th, 2005

I’m now deaf again, thanks to a nice concert.

Edenbridge

Nice metal band with female voice, but the mic was way too low in the mix and the overall sound just sucked, being saturated. Good shredding/tapping guitar player anyhow.

Manticora

The singer of this band can really hold the scene by himself with his leather pants. I mean, when later Angra took the stage, it somewhat felt like the whole public was tired and could no longer keep the pace as it did during the Manticora’s set. They really and simply rocked the house. Funny thing of the evening: The lead guitar player only understood during the last song that nobody could hear him. (oh, he was playing something special when the others were just playing rythm and waiting?).

Angra

I found the guitar player from Edenbridge more impressive at first, but the two guitar players of Angra are also quite good, playing (what impressed me the most) synchronized solos. The whole band felt really solid and powerful.

I really loved the closing song: The lead guitar player (Kiko Loureiro?) dedicated this one to the best guitar player in the world. After a few notes, I could recognize familiar riffs from Pantera: a tribute to Dimebag Darrell. The song melted soon into a Slayer’s Raining blood sung by the bass player. Way to go!

Update: I thought for a short time that some of those guitar players would not see an ugly guitar when they have one in their hands…

Wayne’s world. ‘nuff said.

EOW

Friday, December 10th, 2004

Yeah, EOW, as End Of Week. Finished installing a nice ghosted windows workstation. It was a bit slow to run, but doing a full-restore like from the network won’t help as for speed.

I also tried to sell my internal dotclear installation and the wiki. If this doesn’t work, I can still try to see what is used in other units of the company. And if everything fails, I guess I will try to install either Plone or CPS. (obviously, I won’t be able to try on my Debian system, since I’m not that confident about the packaging. At least, last time I tried, this was a no-go).

Received two new CDs: One Shot and Liquid Tension Experiment. The former is real intersting jazz like stuff: bass, guitar, keyboard, drums. First impression for the latter is that it sounds like a Satriani kind of experiment.

We will see how this blog behaves itself. Currently, we can say it was easier to install than Dotclear (uh!).
