CDs, CDs, more CDs!

I didn’t take time to report my last purchases. This is now:

  • Catch without arms, Dredg: Californian prog rock. A bit light sound-wise (I mean, not a heavy dark sound) and with a singer which has somewhat an interesting voice. At first, it reminded me of a few french singers from the 90’s. So I like the overall construction, but…
  • Hollywood potato chip, The Vandals: Punk! Josh Freese! ‘nuff said! (but I can note that I got the cover with the original lettering see the Hollywood Potato Chip article on Wikipedia).
  • Decksandrumsandrockandroll, Propellerheads: Wizz! bam! Collection!
  • Parklife, Blur: Don’t ask, I’m Stones, but I’m also Blur, go figure!
  • Scarsick, Pain of Salvation: I don’t know what I did expect from this prog metal band, but it achieved one thing: surprise. And a nice one, with a changing sound.
  • Bubblegum, Mark Lanegan Band: First heard of him through QotSA (which I dislike a bit), and extracts from his solo work seemed promising. And now, I’m really convinced this is just plain good stuff.
  • Colma, Buckethead: Did you know I had a fetish for him? I already knew part of the content (many concerts are legally on archive.org for those interested) and now I have the studio version.
  • Opiate, Tool: Woh, I didn’t know that Tool could play fast when they were younger! A bit of an early sound: amazing drums (oh, really?!), but compared to latter work, we have less guitar presence (with higher sound) an more bass.
  • Whisky for the holy ghost, Mark Lanegan: Did I already say that I like his solo work? (not yet fully digested)
