Linux on a laptop
I had recently the occasion to install Linux (well, Ubuntu) on a laptop. It turned up pretty well (although the laptop involved was a bit old). Most of the hardware was recognized, including the video card and the wifi card. For the latter, I had some troubles when looking at various HOWTOs when I wanted to configure it for a WPA protected WLAN, while in fact, it was as easy as clicking on the right icon and filling the passphrase, thanks to the network manager.
However, one (important) point is still lacking and it is the suspend/hibernate mode. It doesn’t work, or works randomly on this laptop. And compared to the way I use my own laptop with OSX, that would be a show-stopper, if it wasn’t a work related laptop.
